We are Christie and Stephen and we make up Floflo Flowery! Stephen does the boring stuff (accounting, taxes, shipping) and I do the fun stuff (get to be creative everyday). I love flowers and I'm so very lucky to be able to call the Hawaiian island of Kaua’i home. Literally called The Garden Isle, we are surrounded by lush tropical plant life and exotic flowers. I obsessed over my garden back in Canada (eh), and I knew my future had flowers in it. And then we moved to Kauai and…… (cliff hanger)……..
I absolutely LOVED putting the bouquets together but what got to me was how bummed I was when the big day was over. I watched the flowers sit on the table getting dryer and dryer and eventually die in front of my newly married eyes :(. It got me thinking…. It would have been really cool to have some how preserved those flowers and that moment in time.
I learned about resin flower preservation and I studied everything there was to know about drying flowers, finding the right molds and resin, the laborious task of casting them in layer upon layer of resin and finally top coating the juiciest, most glossy finish you’ll ever feast your eyes on. I practiced over and over, each time learning from the process of the previous mold until there weren’t any more bubbles or mistakes.
